yo yo guys, welcome to the new blog section! here i'll be talking bout my findings on manga and maybe sometimes my progress and thoughts on the manga I read.
about 3 days ago I got a sick deal on a buncha air gear volumes. Abt $200 for 21 volumes, now you may be like "oh thats the normal price for manga, they're $10 each"
not the case for air gear anymore. the series is out of print, the volumes are a lot harder to find and the prices are higher. some volumes by themselves run from $30 to even $500... (looking at you vol 34)
as I said in a blog earlier this year about manga, this shit is gonna be like finding the chaos emeralds scrambled all over.
all I know is 34, 35 and 36 are going to be HELL to get. wish me luck guys.
I've shelved all my manga recently and I realized I have a problem. I have lots of volume ones of many different manga series. That's a problem becuz theses volumes take up shelf space I could be using for other series I'm collecting. I probably need to get my rid of hunter x hunter and bleach volumes right now. I don't think I'll have enough space to shelf those rn.
i'm just thinking about how I'll shelf bigger voluems. berserk, those books heavy / big as hell. the akira anniversay books are kinda big but they're kinda a nice size idk, vizbig vagabond volumes aren't that bad either.
a tip for you jr. manga collectors, collect a series that you'll know you would enjoy! don't be like me and grab a buncha vol. 1s of different series! think about your space!
i've also seen manga collections but it's just a buncha volume ones of like 30 different series.. i was wondering the thought process of having a buncha volume 1s as a collection, maybe the people just want something to fill the bookshelf space up.
grahhhh!! shelving is time consuming but it's pretty fun.
it's a lot easier when you have a complete sets of manga, im in a bit of a pickle. I'm still collecting air gear, xxxholic, chainsaw man, soul eater and rosario vampire which will continue to take up space.. I have atleast 10+ more volumes to find of some of these. My only complete sets I have right now is Saiyuki, Chobits and Akira.
I'll have to get another bookshelf, some of my volumes are stacked ontop of each other because the lack of space.
i really like when manga volumes look really nice and neat next to each other but there's one thing that irks me.
sometimes the publisher logos will have a different look and it often looks weird next to some volumes..
here's my complete set of chobits BUT THE RED TOKYOPOP LOGO JUST MAKES ME SO MAD GAHHHH I WISH I COULD SEE THE SPINES BEFORE I BOUGHT THEM ONLINE
apparently the red versions are later copies published by tokyopop in ~2005 and they changed their logo.. it seems my copies are earlier except those two.
i've also heard rave master is notorious for that and from the sets i've seen i would've gone crazy.
ok while i'm here, can i talk about how sick chobits volume 1 cover looks? like damn!
i'm a really big fan of collecting second hand books. i think there's people out there that only collect new books.. couldn't be me
it's really interesting to see the age and care put into some second hand books, or see the destruction of some..
makes me wonder if some of the books are from an original run back in 10+ years or 20+ years ago it's really cool to see the book end up into my hands.
im kinda like that with all things second hand. it tells me the type of owner the previous one was.
half of my collection is second hand and the quality varies with each book. i think trigun volume 2 has to be the book in my collection with the worst condition.. I think bro was drinking soda or eating chocolate and spilling that shit on the books.. smh.
now i'm not one to get off the hook either.. before i was a big manga collector and cared carefully for the books i bought my first volume ever, naruto volume 2 just about 10+ years ago. i didn't really have a bookshelf so it would kinda laying around in random places, i think it was in my drawer. it's pretty warped you can see the age thru the photos.
this volume is incredibly sentimental to me, i remember the day i bought this book clearly.
