WIP
So i've always wanted a PSP as a kid, I never had one. I was the nintendo console / DS kid back in the day for handhelds but I've always enjoyed playing on my friend's PSP.
Well in April i ordered a super nice looking PSP-2000 off ebay and let me tell you, this thing looks brand new.
It's like it was opened out of the box and played with once then put back in.
Very clean looking, there's no scratches or dirt on the screen or the back, I'm like damn!
I picked silver cause It was a nice color for me. If I didn't like the color I would've shell swapped.. But that's a bit expensive to pay someone for all that. I'll be keeping it like this.
The button size on this thing is perfect for me because my hands are big as hell. Playing on a vita can be uncomfortable cus everything is really close together.
i decided to install CFW on this boy but it wouldn't update for some reason, I had to buy a whole mini usb cord in order to spoof my console version.
It took a good minute to get everything together I went to bed at like 5am.
but when everything was finished, first thing I had to do was install some wallpapers, music and just a few starter games. I'll go into an actual game store and see what I can find soon.
..for now I'll be playing a classic. What y'all know bout this one >:)?
idk how many of you guys have heard of maplestory- likely a lot but the game is just not in a very good state.
i've had some good memories on maple, i cant say i'm really an OG but i've played long enough, starting in 2015 (sheesh that's 10 years ago..DAMN!- anyways)
the game is a huge grindfest, the main goal is to make a main character with enough strength to carry you through end game bosses. but that's where the problems start.
In order to really grasp your strength you'll need to make more characters--besides your main and grind them out to level 210, sometimes 200 to get benefits for your main. those benefits include important skills with strength bonuses for your main and also something called Legion, a grid like system that grants bonus stats.
not only is that an unfun gameplay loop problem, you also have the predatory business practices.
cosmetics... first off for new items you'll have to gamble for them in something called a surprise box. and you likely won't get what you want on your first pulls you'll prob be tempted to spend more money on gambling. it's not cheap either.. unfort i fell into this loop.
and most of the time the items you get from surprise boxes won't even complete a full outfit, you'll be left with random ass pieces.
you could buy clothes n stuff in the cash shop but uh... they're more like rental items instead of a perm thing. come on bro..
yea sometimes nexon will put some perm clothing items up in the shop for a limited time but it's stuff that they pick, not what you might particularly want.
mmos/ online worlds where you can't pick what you really want cosmetically really irk me. customization is a big thing for me and maplestory limits you on creating a look unique to you.
if you're dedicated to fashion in games be ready to spend big.
you can buy stuff with in game currency called mesos but that's also a grind too.
you'll have to jump around and spam skills for hours just to level up like once for the higher levels, and sometimes you won't even level at all without the help of exp buffs. and my god.. some classes mobbing rotations are so god damn boring. spam one key and jump around the map in the same pathway is so goddamn boring.
i finally quit maple like 2 - 3 years ago and played again like 2 months ago to see what changed. apparently leveling is easier and theres been QOL but it still doesn't really eliminiate big problems of grind.
you also will have to gamble to power up your items to the max potential, you'll have to grind mesos for hours to spend them on upgrading, only for the chance of your item possibly dropping back in strength cuz your upgrade failed or the item getting destroyed and becoming unusuable
there's also the low drop rates for important items / gear and the daily quests, daily bosses...man i can go on. maplestory is a chore instead of a game.
i'm just glad i was able to stop playing that shit, can't say i was a player who played with others, i was a solo guy, which made the leave easier. i tried to get my friends on maple a long time ago but thank goodness i never pulled them into that bs.
my god, this is a game i cannot recommend anyone plays at all if you haven't played it yet, even current players hate it. maybe the classic maplestory servers are a lot more enjoyable tho. who knows tho, i haven't played em to recommend.
having a job made me realize how i should be managing my time. it made me realize, damn i'm wasting hours on this maple to get like a +1000 damage increase when i could be playing or doing something else worth my time
in my opinion one thing maple does good is the music and unique areas. here's gifs of my main character in my favorite world and one of my fav songs before i delete the game off my pc and freeup like 50gb for better use.
